MERA

Who We Are

MERA is a collaboration of organizations representing a broad range of metals and materials. Although our members represent different metals and organizations, many fundamental environmental science questions extend across individual substances. MERA provides a forum for addressing these shared questions collaboratively, allowing members to draw upon scientific expertise, experience, and research that extends beyond any single metal.

MERA provides a collaborative forum for identifying, discussing, and advancing environmental research relevant across metals. Our work addresses scientific questions related to:

  • Environmental fate and exposure

  • Bioavailability and metal speciation

  • Ecotoxicology and ecological effects

  • Environmental risk assessment

  • Environmental quality standards and guidelines

  • Emerging methods and technologies

  • New approaches for generating, interpreting, and applying environmental data

MERA members collectively support scientific priority-setting and may choose to collaborate on research projects where there is shared interest. This flexible model allows research teams to form around specific scientific questions while maintaining a broader forum for cooperation across the metals community.
